The Richmond Strikers 2005 & 2006 girls travel soccer teams recently returned from France after competing in the Tournoi International de Guerlédan last week! This marks the sixth time in club history that Strikers teams have traveled to France to compete in the tournament.
Both Strikers teams performed incredibly well against top European clubs like Paris Saint Germain, Montpellier and Lyon. The Strikers teams finished in an impressive 6th and 13th place out of 64 teams!
“This years trip was more than just a trip, it was an experience of a lifetime,” said Head Coach of both Strikers teams, Kimmy Cummings. “It was the perfect opportunity for these 24 players to showcase the hard work they’ve put in throughout the last year. Whether it was in the pouring rain or blistering humidity, each of them laid it all on the line for a common goal - to make club history. I truly believe this group of girls not only represented the Richmond Strikers, they represented our country - and for that, I’m incredibly proud. It was an absolute honor to coach them.”
From the 24 Strikers girls that went on the trip, 10 girls started from the clubs’ U8 ADP program and two girls came from Strikers recreation.
The Strikers teams have returned are excited to continue to improve on the field and are looking forward to going back to the Tournoi International de Guerlédan next year!
