Older Richmond Strikers Teams Reign Supreme

February 7, 2019 – Both the U15-U19 Richmond Strikers Boys and Girls Elite teams captured the VPL points championship during the fall season. The U15-U19 Boys Elite teams combined for a 33-5-5 record in the VPL, while the U15-U19 Girls Elite teams combined for a 28-8-6 record.

The Richmond Strikers U15-U19 Elite teams also captured multiple championships for the Fall 2019 Virginia National Premier League season. Congratulations to the following Strikers teams who won their VPL division:

  • U15 Elite Boys – Coach Pat McStay
    • The U15 Boys went undefeated this fall, posting a 11-0-1 record with a +51 goal differential. The 2004 team will go to the NPL regional event for the 3rd year in a row this summer in Rockford, Illinois.

  • U15 Elite Girls – Coach David Burch
    • The U15 Girls posted a 9-1-1 record, securing their number one spot in the division on January 20th with a 3-1 over VYS Phoenix. In addition to winning the VPL, they won the NPL State Cup and took first in the Capital Fall Classic. They advance to the NPL Playoffs this summer in Denver, Colorado.

      "This group has really come together this fall. They are certainly playing with a lot of confidence which is great to see,” Head Coach David Burch said about the season. “Everyone takes pride in doing well in games and therefore plays with a determination to impact each game. It has been fun to watch!"
  • U17 Elite Boys – Coach Jeff Gettler
    • The U17 Boys posted a 7-2-1 record. With their VPL division win, they will advance to the NPL Playoffs this summer in Rockford, Illinois. Additionally, the U17 Elite Boys went 3-0 in their division at the CASL Showcase.

  • U19 Elite Boys – Coach Jeff Gettler
    • The U19 Boys went undefeated, posting a 9-0-1 record with a +29 goal differential. They also were NPL State Cup Champions. Their final game as a team will be at the 2019 Jefferson Cup in March. They look forward to their final stint as a team and to round off an extraordinary season that the players will cherish as they move on to the next chapter.

In addition to the division winners who will be moving on to postseason play this summer, the U17 Elite Girls led by coach Steve D’Adamo have advanced to the National Cup XVIII which will take place in Denver, Colorado this summer.
