Hunger Awareness Week in Goochland County is April 9-17, 2016, and the Richmond Strikers are coming together to pitch in!
You can help-please bring a bag of non-perishable food to West Creek, Longdale, or Striker Park between Saturday, April 9, and Sunday, April 17. There will be collection boxes set up in the Striker Park Pavilion, West Creek Pavilion, and Longdale Building.
For every pound--up to 1,000 lbs.--donated, the Strikers will match with $1.00.
Did you know that just a few miles down the road in Goochland...
- 150 Families shop weekly in our food pantry
- Goochland's poverty rate is 7.4%
- 1,800 Goochland residents struggle with hunger including nearly 500 children aged 0-17
- Western Goochland is an official "food desert"
- The food collected will only last until September
It takes teamwork to score a goal. It takes a community working together to end hunger. For the second year in a row, the Richmond Strikers are teaming up with The Goochland Free Clinic & Family Services to provide food for our neighbors who struggle to put food on the table for their families every day.
Our goal is to collect 30,000 pounds of food to help feed Goochland's hungry.
Please bring non-perishable food to West Creek, Longdale, or Striker Park between April 9 and April 17 to pitch in!
