Richmond Strikers Rugby Debuts at NC Ruggerfest

This past weekend, Richmond Strikers Rugby played in their first tournament as a program at Carolina Ruggerfest in Charlotte, North Carolina. Strikers Rugby were represented by the 5th & 6th grade boys team, the 7th & 8th grade boys team and the High School Junior Varsity boys team as well as middle school and high school girls’ players. All teams were extremely competitive.

The 5th and 6th grade team and the high school junior varsity teams both came in second in their age group while the 7th and 8th grade team came in third. The first score tried by a Richmond Striker was by Ned Magnum, a player for the 7th and 8th grade team. He also completed the first conversion of a Richmond Striker.

The spring season officially kicks of this weekend with friendly games versus various teams from Northern Virginia. The 5th & 6th and 7th & 8th grade teams will be playing in a round robin with teams from Loudoun, Prince William, Western Suburbs and Springfield here in Richmond at Pouncey Tract Park beginning at 11am. The High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Boys’ teams will travel to Legion in Northern Virginia.
