Richmond Strikers Football’s debut is around the corner and we’re excited to offer a one of a kind program here in the Richmond area. Registration is now open the recreation flag fall season which kicks off on September 6! All practices and games will take place on Friday nights at Glover Park under the lights throughout September and October.
If your kids love football but you aren’t ready for them to strap on the pads then Strikers Recreation Flag Football program is a perfect alternative. We have designed our program for players of all skill levels who are interested in actually learning the game of football. Our carefully designed curriculum will teach players basic football formations, plays, concepts, and terminologies that translate to the popular tackle format.
“The Strikers Football program is unique in that we have developed a curriculum that is aimed to educate athletes on football terminology, concepts, and principals that are universal throughout all levels of the sport,” Strikers Football Director Sam Gonos said about the program. “Our goal is to get as many boys and girls playing the sport, not necessarily as their primary sport but rather as a secondary sport which is why we practice and play on Friday nights. The environment is electric with games being played on turf fields under the lights offering a real Friday night experience.”
“Being involved at the grassroots level of developing this platform is very important to me. This program will allow kids to compete in a safe and controlled environment in order to learn the essential fundamentals of the game. It is a great first step to learning the basics of the game before transitioning into contact football. This program will also be extremely beneficial for any kid looking for an opportunity to compete in the offseason while still being committed to other sports,” Sam Rogers, NFL Free Agent and Richmond Strikers Football Coach, added. “As a Richmond area native, I am very passionate about enhancing the quality of football in this region and I look forward to growing the program over the coming years.”
“The Strikers are extremely excited about the addition and debut of Flag Football,” said Richmond Strikers Executive Director, Jay Howell. “This fall, the new Friday Nights Lights environment will encourage the young athletes to develop a new skill set, improve their overall athletic ability, and to have FUN!”
