U8 ADP tryout/observation night

Monday June 4th at Longdale

Girls: 5:30-7 pm, Boys 7-8:30 pm

Please note: We try to take everyone who signs up for U8 ADP, however, we use the tryout/observation night to make sure U8 ADP is an appropriate fit for each player

We base this on: Effort, committment, athleticism, technical ability

If your child will thrive with 2 technical practices a week plus a 1 hour game on Saturdays by qualified, engaged coaches then U8 ADP is for you.

U8 ADP Overview

Advanced Development Program (U8 ADP) is the transition between the recreational side of the Richmond Strikers Soccer Club and the travel side.  The program offers our U8  players the opportunity to be exposed to a better soccer environment that will enhance their skills and their approach to the game.  U8 ADP is a year long program and is based out of our Longdale Youth Development Center.

The objective of the training at the Richmond Strikers is to provide our youngest players with an environment that promotes learning, creative thinking, problem solving, skill development and love for the game in an age appropriate soccer environment. 

At U8 ADP, U9 and U10,  we have an age appropriate curriculum in place that will equip our players with the fundamental skills that they will need to carry with them as they continue to develop.  For this reason, our focus at these ages is to develop the individual and small group skills of our players. 

 The 3 main components of our age appropriate curriculum are:

                       1. Technical

                       2. Agility, Balance and Coordination

                       3. Simple decisions - using games to teach format

Smaller sided games, under differing conditions, promote the qualities that we are looking for in our youth players by allowing for more touches on the ball, more creativity with the ball, more individual problem solving in the game environment.  

ADP games will be scheduled on Saturdays and all matches will be supervised by Richmond Striker U8 ADP coaches.   The objective of Saturday’s games is to promote and reinforce the skills and techniques worked on in practice during the week. While winning and losing is part of a soccer game, the main focus is the individual and technical development of the players in a competitive environment.  Our primary concern is to ensure that our young players have a strong foundation in the basic soccer movements and soccer concepts that they can build on as they grow as players. 

ADSL

On Saturday, U10 Fabregas played well and won 3-0 with zero subs. A really strong team effort.  On Sunday, the boys came together again and won 10-1. All of the Fabregas boys have been together for two years and they have done a terrific job under the outstanding Julio Penallilo.  

U10 Nasri didn't quite find their stride and lost their first game in a long time 4-2. Coach Kwaku has really improved this group - great job coach!

U10 Wilshere battled hard again with a shortage of players. The game ended in a 2-1 defeat with Cole Wolford on the score sheet          and James Green playing well.

U10 Solo and U10 Cheney

U10 Solo struggled to find any rhythm on Saturday. However on Sunday they improved and overcame an in form Cheney team 4-1.

U11 Wambach won 4-2 over fellow Striker team U11 McMillan.  Both teams played great an early morning contest.

U13 Premier girls win 3-0 to move into second place in the standings

VCCL

U11 girls continue to find the back of the net in winning 7-1.  Well done girls!

U11 elite player Joshua Kirkland scored two goals in a 3-2 win over Beach FC in  VCCL action on Sunday

Strikers U14 elite boys outscored Beach FC 4-1 to remain top in the VCCL with a 5-1-1 record. A job well done by all our U14 elite players capping off a great year.

Recreation Clinic

You should have been watching games on Striker Park field #6 on Saturday. 

There was lots of action going on as the U5 Pinchers took on the Yorkies.  Tons of goals were scored in that match-up.  Following them the Poodles and Terriers put on a great show. 

Things were really heating up as the Sea Lions and Seahorses began their game.  It was getting a little warmer on the fields, but that didn’t stop these two teams from having a great time. 

The U7 Ant Eaters and Atom Ants were showing their brothers and sisters how to play the game.  There were a large number of younger ones watching from the sidelines.  Looked like the Cougars and Jaguars were having a great game too—I think that their snack after the game was enjoyed by all.

Fasa came down for the second time this spring to play some of our U9 boys. . Strikers applied themselves very well and looked really good. Stand out performance on Field 5 was from Rohit Bhagavatula and Field 4 Matthew Hartsel. On field 3 Parker Le had a curling effort from distance and Guilen Brandon had a nice half volley from a corner.

For U9 Girls, Alice Geiger and Abby Gray showed some good understanding on Field 4 as well as Nicky Ressler. On field 5, Alison Great continued her good spring season. On field 3, Lily Walsh tireless effort is always commendable and Sophia Palumbo stood out from a technical standpoint.

U8 ADP pool

Many of the ADP players are starting to understand when to dribble, when to pass and the coaching staff are pleased to see them making their own decisions with confidence!

On field 6, Jacob Epperly and Tommy Roberts played well while on Field 5 everyone applied themselves well. On field 3, Jimmy Song impressed and Nathaniel Beard stepped it up!

ADP Girls, On Field 5 Madelyn Curtis did a fine job and as a Goalkeeper! Kiley Fitzgerald continues her good play - very smart and has a sweet left foot! On field 3, Virginia Ballowe played well and Kate Sylvia was a beast at the back!

The TeamFirst Soccer Academy is dedicated to providing girls and young women an opportunity to develop as individual players within a disciplined and unselfish team environment. It is our goal to encourage players to respect the integrity of the game while we continue to nurture their love for soccer.

Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly and Tisha Hoch: Combined they have 5 Olympic gold medals, 5 World Cup Championships, and 12 NCAA Titles. In the history of competitive soccer, they are second to none because they put TEAMFIRST.
