The Richmond Strikers are committed to supporting and giving back to the greater Richmond community in which they live and play. Throughout the year, they partner with several other local nonprofit organizations to participate in meaningful projects.
UMFS is a nonprofit agency that provides a comprehensive array of programs to meet the needs of high-risk children and parents to enable them to overcome challenging circumstances and succeed. A national leader in helping children, they also proactively identify unmet social service needs throughout Virginia and develop appropriate partnerships to address them.
Through a partnership with UMFS, the Strikers participate in several events in support of UMFS' mission:
November 13, 2016, 1:30-5:00 PM
Strikers families and friends will spend the afternoon bringing the holidays to the UMFS campus at 3900 West Broad Street. Information on volunteering will be sent to Strikers members. Anyone with questions can contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Strikers coaching staff heads to UMFS every month to deliver a series of soccer clinics for the students of UMFS' Charterhouse School during their PE classes.
Goochland Free Clinic & Family Services
The mission of Goochland Free Clinic & Family Services is to provide access to health care and basic human services to the Goochland community.
Score Against Hunger Food Drive
In support of Goochland County's Hunger Awareness Week, the Strikers banded together to collect non-perishable food items to be donated to and distributed by the Goochland Free Clinic & Family Services. We collected over 450 pounds of food in 2015 and are hoping for even more each year moving forward! In 2016 and 2017, the Strikers pledged to donate $1 for every pound of food donated, up to $1,000.
Richmond Strikers/GFCFS Coat Drive
In light of the success of our first two food drives, the Strikers decided to hold a fall Coat Drive to support the Goochland Free Clinic & Family Services Clothes Closet. Annually, the Clothes Closet serves over 822 clients, including 344 children. Strikers families donated over 450 coats, a massive turnout, in 2016!

The race benefits Families of the Wounded Fund, Inc., which provides financial resources in support of family members/caregivers of military service men and women who have either been wounded in combat operations, or injured as a result of line-of-duty activities. These wounded American men and women heroes and their families lives have been changed forever. They clearly understand the high cost of freedom. This non-profit organization provides the needed support to assist these families while they are here in Central Virginia.
