Club History

The club was originally founded as the Three Chopt Soccer Association in 1975. In February 1986, Three Chopt Soccer changed its name to the Richmond Strikers Soccer Club

March of 2006 brought the merger of the Richmond Strikers Soccer Club and Virginia Capital Area Soccer League (CASL)
Predecessor clubs to CASL, include the Richmond Capitals, AC Alliance, Atlee Arsenal and the Chickahominy Chiefs

The club originally began playing in the near West End of Richmond on fields near the intersection of Three Chopt and Patterson Avenue and later moved to fields in the Innsbrook Corporate Center, at the intersection of Broad and Cox Road.

In the early 80’s, the original founding Board members purchased 42 acres of land in the Short Pump Area, which became Striker Park, an 11-field soccer complex.

During this same period, the Richmond Capitals co-developed a 5-field complex with Henrico County, which is known as Capital Park, along with our 3-field Longdale youth development facility at Woodman Road and I-295.

In addition to these three complexes, the club developed a 10-field complex in 2008 with Markel Corporation on 235 acres in the West Creek Business Park located off I-288.
